Today is the day. We've known about this day, talked about this day, and planned for this day. And it still sucks! Matt has done a tremendous job keeping a positive attitude through out this entire journey and that positivity hasn't waivered one bit, even as this day grew closer. He is continuing to be strong and face things head on and we can only hope that strength continues and carries him through the next few weeks and months. I know that he (and I) were absolutely amazed at the outpouring of love that we've felt in just the few short hours we've been here. Matt's face is, literally, all over Facebook and the pictures / texts / message we've received from family and friends is priceless.
Currently Matt is receiving his central line that will be the gateway for all things medical. They will use this line to draw blood, give him his chemotherapy, and eventually his transplant. We began the morning with a quick set of labs, a long time waiting for an appointment with Dr. J that never actually came to fruition, and then prepping for this procedure. The line placement will take about an hour and then he will officially be admitted.
Once I have Matt's room number, phone number, address, etc. I will let you all know so you can send cards and well wishes. Just an FYI - there cannot be any live flowers in Matt's room, as he will be in complete isolation these next few weeks. But cards, pictures, posters, etc. are all welcome! He will also be able to have visitors! I will continue to keep everyone posted as more updates come. For now, just keep doing what you're doing!
All my love,
Mandy
